The world loves to play on our negative emotions.
Amongst the chaos and American panic of TikTok being banned, a video filtered its way onto my For You page. It was geared towards oldest daughters. How heavy our burden is and how we are everything for everyone else yet never have anyone there for us. How it makes us crave love because that means our partner will take care of us and finally release us.
I won’t lie, it got me.
They weren’t wrong, my heart does feel heavy sometimes. But in that moment, it only did because of the video I watched.
That was when I realized what was happening and how I didn’t want to feel that anymore.
I’m so tired of seeing oldest daughter content made to feed on my emotions and make me feel melancholy because I was dealt a heavy hand.
It’s time to switch the narrative.
Yes we go through a lot.
We are nurturers, protectors, and guides all rolled up into one neat package.
But how blessed are we to be seen by the Lord as such?
How honoring is it that our Father trusted us enough for this?
Not everyone could handle being the oldest daughter, let alone oldest sibling.
We are usually the first role model our siblings have of the world. The people who shield them from our parents problems and drama. Yet a counselor for our parents when they can’t handle talking to each other.
It’s a lot, yes.
It leads us to naturally want to take care of everyone around us.
But God, our Father, created us to be fit enough to handle it. All of it.
And do it gracefully.
Without letting the world break us.
We are Luisa Madrigal from the Beloved Disney movie Encanto. She said it right, we might buckle and bend, but we never break. No mistakes.
As the new year rolled around, there were plenty of people on social media making jokes about how they beg God not to put them on His strongest soldiers list this year.
But do you know the privilege it is to be put on the strongest soldiers list?
Think about it.
God named you, someone he handcrafted and knew before you were in your mother’s womb, His strongest soldier.
You
What an honor it is to be refined in gold by the master Himself.
To be chosen.
He never wanted us to do it alone either. He will send us through fire, and yes it will hurt, sometimes worse than you ever felt before—but the peace that comes on the other side will also be like something you never felt before.
The more you deny Him and sulk in the fire, the longer it will take for you to come out of it.
The Israelites were only suppose to spend 40 days in the wilderness, not 40 years.
So next time you think about how rough you have it, how you never asked to be Gods strongest soldier, just think of how much of an honor it is. How crazy it is that God trusts little ole you with something so big and heavy. How much faith he has in you. And how He can’t wait to see you on the other side so He can see the joy on your face.
Because that’s all He wants.
For His children to feel happy, safe, and loved by Him.
He just wants us to reach the full potential he created us for, and with that comes trials. But it will never be anything you can’t handle.
He didn’t create you that way.
So look inside yourself.
Find him.
He’s there.
And He’s waiting for you.
You are His strongest soldier and He’s so proud of you.

Chosen, Called, Sent
Witnessing His wonders, one corner at a time.
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."

I really appreciate this post! So many are falling into this kind of thinking and they are getting stuck there.
It’s dangerous to only look at the down side of everything and feel validated by it. Anyway thanks for sharing!!
